Chapter History

Panamint Springs Chapter, NSDAR, celebrated our twentieth anniversary on October 12, 2011. We were organized on October 12, 1991, in Ridgecrest, California, located in the Upper Mojave Desert with twenty-two organizing members which consisted of four mother-daughter member sets, three sets of sisters, and one three-generational family. The organizing regent was Debra Mason. Of the original members, five were Junior members. Panamint Springs Chapter, NSDAR, was a member of District XI until District XV (Sierra Vista) was organized on August 13, 2011, with six chapters. Today the chapter has forty-six members including five of the original organizing members.

Our chapter is named after Panamint Springs located in Death Valley. Panamint Springs was named after the Panamint Indian Tribe that had previously inhabited the area. Panamint Springs is located 70 miles to the east of Ridgecrest along Highway 190.
